The Hilltown Cooperative Charter Public School is proud to have a Faculty and Curriculum Advancement (FACA) program. The purpose of the program is to advance and support self-directed professional development initiatives in areas that are identified as priorities for our school. Through FACA grants, teachers have the opportunity to work together, draw on the expertise of outside professionals, read, write, discuss, create, and share results of their work with the community. Topics may be of academic or pedagogic nature, so long as applicants clearly demonstrate the potential benefit of their collaboration to students in the school.
The main goals to be achieved by the FACA program at Hilltown are to build…
- …outstanding learning experiences for Hilltown students
- …high quality and high frequency professional collaborations among faculty
- …institutional support for teachers’ self-directed professional growth and leadership
- …creation of material resources for Hilltown to share with other schools (supporting the school’s commitment to disseminating research on practice to other public schools)
The main goals of FACA are aligned with our Charter: funded projects support collaboration as well as individuation, intellectual creativity, and integrated learning with an emphasis on the arts.
